Researchers from the University of Nebraska and the Texas Biomedical Research Institute are recommending that scientists study the anti-inflammatory properties in CBD as a potential treatment for lung inflammation caused by the coronavirus.
In this study, they explore whether or not it is an effective strategy in aiding with COVID-19.
“…we intend to highlight the potential effects of cannabinoids, in particular, the non-psychotropic cannabidiol (CBD), that has shown beneficial anti-inflammatory effects in pre-clinical models of various chronic inflammatory diseases and is FDA approved for seizure reduction in children with intractable epilepsy”
Due to CBD’s high margin of safety and high tolerance for large doses, it could be a feasible solution to reduce certain inflammatory symptoms of COVID-19.
