I am wondering if it is necessary to grow with Dept. of Ag certified seeds in order to sell hemp products derived from those plants on a commercial level? Could you grow and then sell product farmed from any old seeds?

It depends on your state. In short, yes you can get away with growing any seed because the industry is so new. Regulations and enforcement methods are still being developed.

However, most people think all hemp seeds are the same. If you aren’t careful with your genetics, it’ll lead to crop failure. One should purchase from a reputable brand that have been in the industry for a while, not some discounted seeds from shady brokers that have no idea what kind of plants those came from.
