Ohio crime labs can’t tell the difference between hemp and marijuana
Clearly education of law enforcement in recently decriminalized states is needed. What are some ways that education can be introduced to law enforcement so that they are able to make the right calls?
Here is a short video to highlight the challenge.
Since marijuana and hemp present in very similar ways in taste, touch, look and smell, it will be difficult to determine which is which at the drop of a hat. It seems like the only way to find out right now is to test the THC content. This takes time, however.
Any ideas for an expedited process of discerning hemp from marijuana?
I am thinking some chemical engineer should make and patent a field tester, just like they have for synthetic drugs. Law enforcement officers can test substances to see if they are illegal drugs by using some type of solution. Would be an overnight success and make that person a lot of money. Unfortunately, I do not have an engineering mind or I would be on it.
Only through education!
My team and I have invited the police department and speak with them about differences.People only know through education.
You are absolutely right. Education is key. That is awesome that you are partnering with Law Enforcement in that aspect. Like everything else, education is the key to acceptance and removing stigmas.
