True story. The Local sheriff’s department raided one of our labs because a building inspector was sure he smelled marijuana in the building and told the county we were running an un-permitted marijuana lab.

They did an actual raid. They broke down the front door. They then forced the lab technicians to the ground at gunpoint.

NO ARRESTS WERE MADE. NO CHARGES WERE EVER FILED.

At the end of the day, it only cost us a new door. Could have been worse.

Not my first rodeo, though. I spent a year in prison for cultivating cannabis only to win my case two years later.

The moral of the story is that you don’t have to be breaking the law to end up with a legal situation. You only have to be perceived to be breaking the law by someone who doesn’t understand law.

Here’s another hemp vendor being raided due to confusion and misinformation by local PD. What can be done at this point to convince law enforcement that there is a difference? Is there any surefire way to prove to law enforcement that your crop is hemp, not marijuana, on the spot?

With law enforcement, they have to screw up, so that policy can change. In the cannabis industry, it often took years. For us, it’s happening much faster.
